TFSS Comps 2025 Quickstart Guide
The Tableland Fish Stocking Society (TFSS) is thrilled to announce its annual Members Only Fishing Competition, a highly anticipated event that brings together fishing enthusiasts from all walks of life. This year’s competition will be a Catch and Release competition with all catches recorded on the TFSS competition App. The information is part of a data collection strategy to help monitor stocking numbers in Lake Tinaroo. The competition will focus on catching the elusive and prized barramundi, commonly known as “barra.”
This iconic fish species has been stocked in Lake Tinaroo by the TFSS for more than 30 years. There are 22 IGFA World records for Barra & Sooty Grunter caught in Lake Tinaroo.
The Competition Details

Registration will be at the Cairns & District Power Boat and Ski Club, 15 Tinaburra Rd, Yungaburra from 4pm on 7th February 2025. Competition starts at 6pm on 7th February 2025. Fish competition ends at 9am Sunday 9th February 2025.
Presentation and Prizes at 12pm Sunday 9th February 2025 at Cairns & District Power Boat and Ski Club.

Five Major Prizes This year’s competition features five major prizes. Over $1000 in prize money across the five categories are as follows: Total Length Barra: This prize will be awarded to the angler who catches the barramundi with the longest total accumulated length. The prize is open to all anglers. Largest Barra: In this category, the focus is on the largest barramundi caught during the competition. The prize is open to all anglers. Mystery Length Barra: The mystery length category adds an element of surprise and excitement to the competition. The organizers have predetermined a specific length, and the prize will go to the angler who catches a barra closest to this secret measurement. The prize is open to all anglers. Junior Barra: This prize is reserved for our younger members 14 years and under, encouraging the next generation of anglers to participate and develop their skills. It will be awarded to the junior angler who catches the largest barramundi. Female Largest Barra: Recognising the contributions and talents of our female members, this prize will be awarded to the woman who catches the largest barramundi during the competition.
Rules and Regulations:
To ensure a fair and enjoyable competition, the following rules and regulations have been established: Only members of the Tableland Fish Stocking Society are eligible to participate in the competition. Non-members can register as members by the closing date for nominations. Link to TFSS membership become-a-member/ Membership fees must be paid prior to closing date of nominations. All fish must be caught using legal fishing methods and within the designated competition area of Lake Tinaroo. Participants must adhere to all Queensland fishing and boating regulations and guidelines. Participants must have a Qld Government Stock Impoundment Permits (SIPs) to enter the competition and proof of permit to be provided at Registration.

Each fish must be measured on the brag mat provided, photographed with Token and loaded on the fish recording App by 10am Sunday 9th February 2025. Participants must agree to the Terms and Conditions of the competition provided in the competition fish recording App. All decisions made by the competition judges are final.
Event Schedule The competition will take place over a weekend, allowing ample time for participants to enjoy the experience and maximize their chances of success. The event schedule is as follows:
7th Feb 2025:
The competition will kick start with a briefing session at 5:30pm at the Cairns & District Power Boat and Ski Club (see directions below), where participants will receive important information about the rules, regulations, and prizes. Following the briefing, the fishing begins, with anglers heading out to their chosen spots to start their quest for the ultimate catch.
8th Feb 2025:
Registration remains open until 12pm. Check the leader board, get a refreshment and compare tactics with other fellow members. 6pm – Red Claw crayfish will be auctioned off for the TFSS red claw races.
Funds raised will be used for further restocking Lake Tinaroo.
9th Feb 2025:

10am cut off for catches loaded onto competition App.
12pm – prizes are awarded and BBQ lunch available at the venue.
